Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp believes that Aston Villa would be in the mix for promotion if Jack Grealish had not suffered an injury problem.
The 23-year-old returned at the weekend to help inspire Villa to a 4-0 win over Derby County, but had not featured in the league since December before then due to a shin injury.
He scored a stunning volley on his comeback and the attacking midfielder will hope to get his side back in the mix for the play-offs.
Dean Smith’s side are currently six points adrift of the top six and are going to need to discover top form in the remaining 11 games to close the gap.
Redknapp is blown away by the qualities of Grealish and feels his injury setback has impact the club’s promotion chances.
“Had Grealish been fit for the whole season, I am in no doubt Villa would be in the play-offs. He is the best player outside the Premier League,” Redknapp wrote in the Daily Mail.

TBR’s View:
Grealish is certainly a special individual talent that has great potential, but there are a number of players that may argue he’s not the best player in the Championship.
But there is no denying how much he adds to the Villa team when he’s fit and that was evident on return for the demolition of Derby.
He’s a creative playmaker that can dominate in the middle of the park, but the one grey area of his game he needs to try improve on is his end product.
The Englishman has three goals and four assists in 23 games this season, but should be capable of a far greater output.
