Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Redknapp has been discussing his thoughts on the 2018-19 season in the Daily Mail. He also spoke of the upcoming 2019-20 campaign. One name he mentioned was Gareth Bale, whose career at Real Madrid appears to be over after being outcasted by Zinedine Zidane.
He made it very clear just where he would like Bale to end up.
“His Real Madrid days look numbered. I’ve heard that clubs in China are keen to sign Bale, but I would love to see him return to Tottenham.
“Imagine him lighting up their new stadium!”
Bale, of course, spent six seasons with Spurs and developed into one of the world’s best players during his time at the club.
It was with a heavy heart that Tottenham sold him in 2013. He joined Real Madrid that summer for a reported world record fee of £86 million, according to The Telegraph.
He went on to star in the Spanish capital, winning the Champions League on four separate occasions.
Undoubtedly, the return of Bale would be a crowd-pleasing and eye-catching acquisition from the Champions League finalists. However, considering his age at 29 and what would be a massive financial outlay it would seem an unlikely scenario for Tottenham to bring in the Welsh wizard.
