Jamie Redknapp says Liverpool have a 'phenomenal' talent who could rip City apart
Jamie Redknapp has waxed lyrical about Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, saying his all-round game is “phenomenal”.
The Sky Sports pundit also reckons the Reds ace is likely to play a big role against Manchester City this weekend.
Salah has been superb throughout his time at Liverpool, including last season when other players suffered downturns in form.
The Egypt international has made 211 appearances for the Reds, registering 133 goals and 49 assists.
This season, Salah has an impressive eight goals and two assists from eight appearances.
With City coming to Anfield, Liverpool have a tough game on their hands, but Redknapp reckons Klopp’s side will win thanks in part to Salah.
“I’ve seen a lot of Mohamed Salah, I’ve watched him closely, and he’s playing as well as I’ve ever seen him,” he said on Sky Sports.
“Salah’s all-round game right now is phenomenal. His work rate, his desire, his goals, his assists… I haven’t seen him in better form.
“He’s in the form of his life. He’s confident, strong and he’s got the bit between his teeth.
“He’s enjoying having Virgil van Dijk back and knowing he’s playing in a team that can win the title again.
“He’s in wonderful form and it’s a joy to watch him… (he) will cause this Man City defence problems.
“City’s full-backs will want to run the other way but if they leave space for Salah he’ll cut them open.
“City’s defence is great with Aymeric Laporte and Ruben Dias but keep giving the ball to Salah because teams can’t live with him right now.”
Liverpool go into Sunday’s game against City as the only unbeaten team remaining in the Premier League.
The Reds will be looking to maintain their one-point advantage over Pep Guardiola’s side at the top of the table.
