Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has been raving about Arsenal forward Alex Lacazette tonight and claimed he is doing the job for the Gunners that Harry Kane has been doing at Tottenham.
The French striker got himself a goal tonight from the penalty spot and once again proved to be a crucial player in Mikel Arteta’s system. With Gabi Martinelli and Bukayo Saka running off him, Lacazette once again looked a top striker at the top of the pitch.

Much has been made of Lacazette in terms of both his lack of goals and also his future. He is yet to sign a new contract and there is some worry over whether or not the Gunners can replace him.
And according to Jamie Redknapp, Lacazette is now crucial to this Arsenal team under Arteta.
“Lacazette does a brilliant job for the team. He’s the link right now. You need that focal point. With Liverpool they have Firmino that does it and we’ve also stopped judging him on his goals for it. He’s finding a real position, Harry Kane does it at Tottenham. As long as you have pace going the other way, and Arsenal do,” Redknapp said live on Sky tonight.
TBR’s View: Lacazette Deserves New Deal
This is so tricky for Arsenal but at the end of the day, who are they going to get to come in and do the job that Lacazette is doing at the moment?
As well as his experience, his all-round game has been excellent and this Arsenal side are better with him in it.
A new contract is looking more likely by the week and as things stand, you’d imagine Arsenal fans would welcome it.
