Jamie Redknapp praises Dele Alli following Spurs' win over Wolves
Former Spurs and England midfielder, Jamie Redknapp, was full of praise for Dele Alli after Tottenham saw off Wolves today.
The England international has been thrust back into the team with Ryan Mason at the helm, after previously falling out of favour under former manager, Jose Mourinho.
Alli played a key role today and hit the post himself. He also played a number of fine balls in behind for Harry Kane, and looked like being back to his old self.
And Redknapp, speaking on Sky Sports, believes Jose Mourinho was silly not to play Alli, who he claims has ‘tremendous quality’.
“If Mourinho doesn’t pick you it doesn’t mean anything really. He’s a quality player, he averages one in three,” Redknapp said.
“Why would you not want to utilise that? I’m a big fan and he can do more. He’s too good a player not to be in the squad. He’s got tremendous ability and ram it down the throats. His numbers are too good.”
Alli might have left it too late for England consideration for the Euros. However, he is getting back to his best, and under Mason, has clearly been given license to play.
TBR View: Alli a class act on his day, he just needs more days
If Spurs can get the Dele Alli of old back and firing then it will be like having a new signing to be honest.
He’s a quality operator and on his day, as good as any attacking midfielder in the country. He’s proven himself before, so for Alli, it’s a case of just going again and winning everyone over.
