Jamie Redknapp has picked out Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson as a huge individual ahead of the Champions League showdown with Atletico Madrid.
The Reds welcome Atletico to Anfield on Wednesday night for the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were beaten 1-0 out in Spain during the first leg, but are so formidable when it comes to playing at home and are looking to defend their European crown.
Henderson has missed the last four games across all competitions since the Atletico first leg with a hamstring problem, but could make a timely return.
Liverpool boss Klopp has explained (official website) that the 29-year-old midfielder has been back in full training recently and may come back into the side on Wednesday night.
Redknappp is adamant that Henderson will have a big role to play in midweek and has picked out his importance.
“Word is Jordan Henderson could be fit to face Atletico Madrid in Wednesday’s second leg at Anfield and do not underestimate the impact that would have for this team,” Redknapp told the Daily Mail.
“The Liverpool captain, who has made a habit of lifting trophies for this club, is great at setting the tempo in games and making sure everyone is on it.
“He will be desperate to give his all on what could be another special night at Anfield now, too. Henderson is Liverpool’s leader.”

TBR’s View:
Henderson lifted the Champions League trophy last season with Liverpool and will soon be about to lift the Premier League title this campaign, as his side are on the verge of clinching the title.
But it’s only recently that he’s started to earn individual recognition for the level of his performances and he’s never been someone that takes the headlines.
He’s an all-action central midfielder that covers so much ground for the Reds and is so effective going both ways, as well as being a main leader on the pitch.
His return would be ideal for Liverpool going into the Atletico fixture and they will need his calming influence to get through.
