Jamie Redknapp has told Sky Sports (broadcast on 16/5; 19:02) that Thiago Alcantara was amazing in Liverpool’s incredible win at West Brom, labelling the Spaniard’s display a masterclass.
Jurgen Klopp’s men kept their top four hopes alive at the Hawthorns. But they required a stoppage-time header from goalkeeper Alisson to secure the three points.

The Brazilian will rightfully steal many of the headlines. But Redknapp was keen to highlight the performance of one of his teammates in the win over the Baggies.
The Sky Sports pundit suggested that Thiago was the star of the show, insisting he proved his quality as Liverpool handed themselves a huge lifeline in the battle to make next season’s Champions League.

“In Thiago, I saw a masterclass in midfield,” he told Sky Sports. “He was amazing today.
“As a midfield player, we were watching him at times, the way he was manipulating the ball, passing it, keeping it, he kept them ticking. I know they’re playing against a team that’s got relegated, but you can still see his qualities when it’s a tight defence and the way he was passing the ball. Brilliant today.”
It has been a difficult first season in England for Thiago. He has produced some outstanding displays. And yet, he has come in for a lot of criticism.
That is probably down to the expectations of him. The 30-year-old is, unquestionably, one of the world’s best in his position.
He has got nothing like the credit he has deserved for some of his displays this season. And because it was West Brom who Liverpool beat on Sunday, it looks unlikely that he will receive the plaudits he has earned on this occasion as well.
But there has been more than enough evidence this season to suggest that several rival teams are certainly going to be punished if they even think about underestimating Thiago in the future.
