Jamie Redknapp has told Sky Sports (broadcast on 31/1; 15:56) that Patrick Bamford’s season has been such a good story following the striker’s outstanding performance in Leeds United’s win over Leicester City on Sunday.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side produced a masterful display at the King Power Stadium. And Bamford will understandably steal many of the headlines with one goal and two assists in the 3-1 win.

The striker set up Stuart Dallas for the Whites’ equaliser with a delicious pass with the outside of his foot. He then put Leeds in front in the second-half with a thunderous strike into the top corner.
And after running through late on, Bamford played in Jack Harrison when he could have easily taken a shot on himself. Harrison took advantage to make the points safe.

Bamford now has 11 goals this season. And he continues to silence all of those who were insistent that he would be out of his depth in the Premier League.
And following the win, Redknapp insisted that he has been so impressed by what he has seen from the Englishman over the course of the campaign.
“I just think it’s such a good story,” he told Sky Sports. “Having played in the Premier League before, it didn’t work out for him. He must have had his doubts, a new striker came in in the summer.
“He would’ve thought, ‘am I going to be surplus to requirements?’ He started really well. He scored against Liverpool. I think that gave him the confidence first day of the season. And since then, he’s been exceptional.”
In fairness, it was difficult to see this Bamford emerge while Leeds were battling in the Championship.
There were certainly glimpses. He scored 16 goals and finished as the top goalscorer in a title-winning side. But he also struggled to avoid criticism during the season.
He did miss chances. And you could understand why some may have been concerned about his conversion rate as Leeds took a step up.
But Bamford has simply taken his game to another level this season.
