Jamie Redknapp has told Sky Sports’ The Footbal Show (Monday, 10.55am) that Newcastle United’s potential new owners must bring a new striker to St. James’ Park this summer, as Joelinton continues to struggle.
Amanda Staveley has agreed a price with owner Mike Ashley, which is expected to finally see the current owner’s 13-year spell at Newcastle come to an end. The Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund has bankrolled the move, and will own 80%.
Staveley’s PCP Capital Partners will have 10%, as will the Reuben Brothers, as part of the £300million deal. Plenty of chat has already been had about players Newcastle could sign this summer – including links to Arturo Vidal and Antoine Griezmann.
Asked who Newcastle should sign in the coming months, Redknapp responded by stating that The Toon desperately need a striker. Indeed, Joelinton has managed just one Premier League goal since his club-record move from Hoffenheim.
