Jamie O’Hara urges Tottenham to sign in one position because £8m star is ‘getting older’
Jamie O’Hara is urging Tottenham to sign in the goalkeeper position this summer due to concerns about Hugo Lloris.
Lloris, who joined Spurs for £8million back in 2012, has been the number one for nearly a decade.
The French shot-stopper has 126 clean sheets in 373 appearances for the history.
In addition, he wears the club armband and also previously captained his country France to win the World Cup.
The 34-year-old is due to resume the new season in-between the sticks again, but reports suggest a new goalkeeper could end up joining to challenge him.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports Spurs are in talks with Atalanta about a loan-to-buy move for goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini. Also, Calciomercato previously claimed the £17million-rated 26-year-old has been approached by Spurs, Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Spurs-supporting pundit O’Hara insists a new goalkeeper should be a priority because he’s worried about Lloris’ age.
“Could probably do with a new goalkeeper because Hugo Lloris is getting older,” O’Hara told talkSPORT.
Tottenham need to sign eventual Lloris successor
For Lloris, he should still have a couple more years on top of his game if he keeps professional.
The left-footed goalkeeper was still rock solid in-between the sticks last season and Nuno should select him in the new campaign.
However, plans to find his successor should come into play.
If they feel Gollini can be that man, bringing him in to shadow Lloris makes sense. Additionally, Englishman Joe Hart is also still in the squad to offer his know-how.
