Jamie O’Hara has urged Jesse Lingard to forget about staying at Manchester United as well as a permanent move to West Ham United, and consider joining Tottenham Hotspur in the summer – amid reports Spurs could be interested in the England ace.

Lingard, 28, has been in stunning form for the Hammers since joining David Moyes and the East London side on loan in the January window. The playmaker has scored an incredible eight goals and laid on four assists in just nine West Ham games.

TeamTalk claim clubs will have to spend £30million to sign Lingard from United this summer, where he is due to enter the last 12 months of his contract. The Daily Star say Arsenal are going to rival West Ham ahead of the upcoming window.

Spurs have been linked in the past – and ex-Spurs midfielder O’Hara has urged Lingard to forget about other interest and join Tottenham in the coming weeks. He also has interest from Europe, with ESPN claiming Mauricio Pochettino wants him at PSG.

“There’s no point in leaving West Ham to go to Arsenal,” O’Hara said on TalkSPORT. “I don’t think Arsenal are going to be pulling up any big trees, or spending big money. He should go to Tottenham. We’re miles above Arsenal, Arsenal are so average.”

TBR’s view – Lingard would still be good value for money at £30m

While O’Hara might be looking at things from a Tottenham perspective, Lingard only has one move that makes sense this summer – and that is to sign on the dotted line at West Ham permanently, especially if they get into the top four.

At £30million, he is a no-brainer for the Hammers. He fits into their style, he enjoys being one of the club’s best players and he clearly works well under Moyes. Why throw that away and join a side where his game time would be irregular?
