Jamie O’Hara suggests Manchester City should consider Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa

Jamie O’Hara has told TalkSPORT (Tuesday, 9.40am) that he believes Manchester City should consider a move for Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa, if Pep Guardiola leaves the Premier League heavyweights.

Guardiola has entered the final 12 months of his £290,000-a-week contract (Goal) and his future is certainly up in the air. It could be that his future at City could hinge on whether City win the Champions League or Premier League title.

Bielsa, meanwhile, is renowned for only agreeing a season-to-season contract. So, like Guardiola, he is only contracted at Leeds until next summer, though his future is less up for debate – given that is the way Bielsa works, and has done since joining Leeds.

Former Premier League midfielder O’Hara claims Manchester City could consider a move for the Leeds boss, with the Whites shining under the Argentine gaffer since Leeds returned to the Premier League.

“Bielsa is a great shout for Man City,” O’Hara said. “He doesn’t sign long-term contracts, but if City don’t win the PL this year and Guardiola wants to go – they should seriously consider Bielsa. Leeds fans would be gutted. But he is a top-class manager.”

TBR’s view – Could Bielsa really join Manchester City?

With Bielsa, it is difficult to predict his next move. Lazio supporters will not have guessed that the Argentine will have decided to resign, just two days after taking the job. Bielsa feels at home with Leeds, so for now, he is expected to stay.

But should he feel that he has taken Leeds as far as they can go next summer, and if Manchester City consider a move for the Argentine, then perhaps he could be tempted at a shot at the top end of England’s top tier.
