Jamie O’Hara has reacted extremely negatively to a suggestion that Eddie Howe would be a good appointment for Tottenham.
After Jose Mourinho’s sacking last week, a lot of speculation is already circling around who the club’s next full-time manager will be.
Interim boss Ryan Mason is in charge until the end of the season, and he’s got to try get his side over the disappointment of losing in the Carabao Cup final on the weekend to finish strongly in the league.
Pundit and ex-Spurs midfielder O’Hara delivered a blunt negative response to a suggestion that unemployed manager Howe would be a good appointment for his former club.
“For me, I think Eddie Howe would be a brilliant appointment,” talkSPORT producer Sam Ellard said.
“Stick to cricket Sammy boy,” O’Hara replied.
TBR’s View:
Howe, who left Bournemouth at the end of last season, is regarded as a talented young English manager. However, it would be a colossal step up for the 43-year-old to take charge at Spurs.
With an impressive new stadium, along with some top-class stars, the north London club want to be mixing it with the very best teams in Europe.
As well as Howe did with Bournemouth guiding them in the divisions and playing attractive football in the Premier League, ultimately he left after suffering relegation with them.
There are many teams in the top flight that would be a great fit for Howe if he was to return to management next season, but Spurs may be a step too far right now.
