Jamie O'Hara says one Spurs player has been letting them down recently
Jamie O’Hara has told talkSPORT (broadcast on 14/11; 9:40) that Hugo Lloris has been letting Tottenham Hotspur down in recent weeks, while Emerson Royal is one of the worst right-backs he has seen play for the club.
Spurs are one of the most intriguing teams in the Premier League right now. A quick look at the Premier League table and their Champions League group suggests that it has been a pretty successful start to the season for Antonio Conte’s side.
However, that only tells part of the story. They have conceded the opening goal in their last eight games. And they have had to fight their way to many of their wins this season.
Lloris letting Tottenham down recently
It is still not clear whether Tottenham still have many gears to find in the latter stages of the season, or whether they are in serious trouble.
Certainly, while the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski give supporters hope, O’Hara admitted that a number of their teammates are driving him to despair right now.
“Conte wants to play this style. This is his style, you have to accept it. It’s his style. When we’re playing well and we’re on the counter attack and we’re keeping clean sheets, it’s okay,” he told talkSPORT (broadcast on 14/11; 9:40).
“But when you’ve got players at the back like Davinson Sanchez, and Lloris has been letting us down recently as well, and Emerson Royal who’s one of the worst right-backs I’ve seen at Spurs in a long time, you can’t play that way.”
A lot has already been said about Emerson. Unfortunately, he has had a torrid time. He always puts in a shift and works incredibly hard for the team. But the quality simply is not there right now.
The comments on Lloris are interesting. The Frenchman has obviously been an outstanding servant for Tottenham and remains the club’s skipper.
But his form has dipped more recently. He still produces some colossal performances. However, he has made some questionable mistakes in more recent times.
It is a reminder to Tottenham that they have to consider what they are going to do in the long-term when the time comes to replace Lloris.
