Jamie O’Hara reckons Manchester City could buy Tottenham star Harry Kane

Jamie O’Hara has told Alan Brazil’s Sports Breakfast Show on TalkSPORT (Thursday, 7.55am) that Manchester City are the only viable side that can buy Tottenham Hotspur goal machine Harry Kane.

Kane, 26, has continued his stunning form for Spurs this season with nine goals in 12 league and cup outings. It has seen him take his overall tally to 173 goals in 265 games – 130 of which have come in the Premier League for Spurs.

The England skipper is exactly halfway to Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League record of 260 goals, and former Spurs midfielder O’Hara reckons Kane wants to stay in England to beat that record – dismissing a move to Barca or Real Madrid.

But O’Hara believes Kane will have to leave Tottenham if he wants to reach that tally of 260 goals, rubbishing Manchester United’s potential interest and claiming only Manchester City are capable of purchasing Kane.

“I think he will stay in England to beat Alan Shearer’s Premier League record,” O’Hara said. “Will he do it at Spurs? No. It is only Man City that can probably get him.
“Sergio Aguero is coming towards the end of his career, Gabriel Jesus is a different kind of player. City are the only ones that could buy him, but would he fit in? Who knows. He’s fantastic, and in good form.”

TBR’s view – Can Tottenham keep Kane?

The only way Spurs are going to be able to keep Kane is by showing ambition, and winning trophies. After this season’s dismal start to the campaign, the chances of winning a trophy seem unlikely.

Spurs have almost zero chance of winning the Premier League after such a poor start in the league. The Champions League might be out of their reach and the club are already out of the Carabao Cup.

To keep Kane, Spurs need to target the FA Cup to finally win some silverware, while also signing some big players. Paulo Dybala would be a good start from Juventus.
