Tottenham Hotspur take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and Jamie O’Hara has claimed that Antonio Conte’s side will ‘absolutely destroy’ the hosts.

Spurs have an awful record against the Blues at Stamford Bridge. They’ve won just once there since 1990, and if history is anything to go by, Chelsea will win. However, O’Hara thinks things will change this time.

Jamie O’Hara says Tottenham will ‘absolutely destroy’ Chelsea at Stamford Bridge

Speaking on talkSPORT, the Spurs-supporting pundit said: “I think now is the moment for Spurs to turn the tide and start becoming the biggest club in London again.

“We’ve got the best stadium. One of the best managers. Best training facilities. Best striker in the world. Best left winger. So I think now is the time we make our mark.

“I know there’s a lot of Spurs fans out there who will know this is a big moment for us and I think this is a good time to play Chelsea because they’re still a little bit on the hangover of last season.

“They weren’t great against Everton. I think we’re going to go there and we’re going to absolutely destroy them.”

Over on talkSPORT Edge, O’Hara was asked for his score prediction. The Englishman was slightly less confident there and predicted his old side will beat Chelsea 2-1.

TBR View:

Chelsea had a poor end to last season, and they weren’t really great against Everton on the opening weekend.

Thomas Tuchel’s side aren’t quite the same team that won the Champions League in 2021, which makes this one of Spurs’ best opportunities to get one over their city rivals.

To add to that, this is one game Conte would love to win. The Italian’s history with Chelsea isn’t great even though he won the Premier League there, and the fact that his side lost three times to the Blues after he took charge last season must surely irk him.

If O’Hara’s right and Tottenham do go and ‘destroy’ Chelsea, they will be sending a very strong message to every other top club in the country.
