Jamie O’Hara hammers Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho after Norwich defeat

Jamie O’Hara has told TalkSPORT that he is becoming “sick and tired” with Jose Mourinho’s excuses after Tottenham Hotspur were knocked out of the FA Cup by Norwich City on Wednesday after a penalty shootout.

Spurs, who are still without key players Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Moussa Sissoko through injury, failed to beat Norwich on Wednesday night in the FA Cup. Tim Krul was the hero again, saving two penalties to send Norwich through.

Mourinho has been noticeably negative in press conferences before and after matches, bemoaning a lengthy injury list. Indeed, he spoke of how Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn wanted to come off as they felt they were close to injury.

Former Tottenham midfielder O’Hara has blasted Mourinho for constantly using the excuse of injuries to blame for his side’s poor performance – claiming the Spurs squad is good enough to beat a side like Norwich and still do well this season.

“I’m getting sick and tired with the excuses,” O’Hara said. “I’ve backed him when he’s lost Kane and Son, but the negativity of ‘lets all feel sorry for Tottenham’ – no, come on, you need to get results. You’ve still got a good enough squad to beat Norwich.

“It puts the season into perspective when you’re knocked out the FA Cup by Norwich – I don’t think they’ll beat Leipzig, so it could be season over next week. He’s getting paid a lot of money and he’s got to be able to find results.

TBR’s view – O’Hara is bang on, Mourinho negativity transpires to pitch

Spurs seemed devoid of confidence on Wednesday night – but is it really any surprise? When Mourinho continues to bemoan the absence of Kane and Son, claiming he would rather pre-season started now, what does that do for the other players?

It knocks the confidence out of them. Mourinho has basically said that without Kane and Son, Spurs may as well give up this season. Against Norwich, they did – despite Jan Vertonghen’s opener. Mourinho’s negativity is having a detrimental effect.
