Jamie O’Hara expressed his frustration towards Tottenham’s defence after the team’s defeat to Liverpool on Thursday night.

Ex-Spurs midfielder O’Hara watched his former club suffer a 3-1 loss at home to Liverpool in the Premier League.

Roberto Firmino’s goal on the stroke of half-time gave the visitors the lead, before Trent Alexander-Arnold doubled that advantage shortly after the restart.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg did score a stunner to reduce the deficit for Spurs, but Sadio Mane wrapped up the three points for Liverpool with a third goal.

O’Hara ranted on his Twitter about the defence of Jose Mourinho’s side after the defeat.

They operated with three centre-backs and wing-backs against Liverpool, but it was individual errors that ended up costing them dearly.

TBR’s View:

Spurs clearly have some world-class players in attack with both Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, but the same can’t be said about the other end of the pitch.

Unfortunately, there were individual errors in the Liverpool defeat that players can’t hide behind.

Mourinho’s best teams over the years at the likes of Chelsea, Porto and Inter Milan have been built on the foundation of a formidable backline, but in each of them he’s had world-class defenders in his XI.

If he wants to turn his Spurs team into title contenders further down the line, then surely he’s got to invest more into the defence, although it must be stated Sergio Reguilon missed the Liverpool game through injury and Toby Alderweireld was left on the bench.
