Jamie O’Hara discusses Tottenham’s title chances this year

Jamie O’Hara has claimed that his former club Tottenham deserve to be in the mix when discussing potential Premier League title challengers this season.

Spurs have started the season with seven points from their opening four league games, which included a thumping 6-1 victory against Manchester United before the international break.

Jose Mourinho’s side strengthened considerably in the transfer window to give them some real depth in their squad and expectation is now building.

Despite the huge positivity surrounding them right now, it’s worth noting that they did finish sixth in last season’s Premier League table and were 40 points behind runaway champions Liverpool.

O’Hara has put Spurs into the conversation as title challengers, naming their new signing Gareth Bale as one key player.

Bale, 31, is now back at Spurs for a second spell after joining on loan from Real Madrid and he’s a left-footed attacker that is going to give the team even more firepower going forward.

“I still think Man City and Liverpool are the teams to beat, but Everton and Spurs, I think you have to put them in the mix. I think Tottenham and Everton have a better chance of winning the league than Arsenal, Man United and Chelsea this season, at the moment,” O’Hara told talkSPORT.

“You look at Spurs now, you look at front three, and all of a sudden you’re looking at that team thinking, ‘woah’. Gareth Bale is going to make a big difference. They’ve brought in Jose to win trophies and all of a sudden they’ve had a bit of investment and they’ve got some decent players.”

TBR’s View:

Spurs definitely look like they’ll be heading in the right direction this season and the capture of Bale could work wonders, as the winger looks delighted to be back in English football and he’s training again after a knee injury.

The Wales international may also be part of a frightening attack alongside Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, who are already scoring goals at an incredible rate.

Spurs and Everton may be looking strong so far, but it’s insane to talk about either right now as title challengers after just four games and it’s not a conversation that should be had until months further down the line.
