Tottenham have sacked Nuno Espirito Santo after the loss to Manchester United – and Jamie O’Hara has suggested two possible replacements.
Nuno, 47, has suffered five losses in his opening 10 Premier League games. That includes Sunday’s dismal 3-0 home loss to Manchester United.
Reports emerged on Sunday that Daniel Levy and the Tottenham board could sack Nuno, just four months after he joined Spurs in the summer.
Now, those reports have rung true, with Tottenham announcing the decision to offload Nuno. Rumours suggest Antonio Conte is coming in.
Even Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, normally reliable, says Conte could sign as early as today – and might be in London on Monday.
Responding to news, ex-Tottenham midfielder and Spurs fan O’Hara gave his verdict – and suggested two replacements, in Conte or Scott Parker.
O’Hara on Tottenham sacking Nuno: Could Levy go for Conte or Parker?
It does seem, despite rejecting Tottenham in the summer, that Conte could now arrive in North London to replace Portuguese boss Nuno.
A lack of identity, and inconsistent form in the Premier League has paid the price for Nuno – just four months into his 24-month contract at Spurs.
Conte would be a stunning addition. Perhaps the sacking of Nuno has come after Levy and Conte came to an agreement. But Parker is a strange shout.
Currently impressing at Bournemouth after a decent Fulham spell, Parker is also ex-Tottenham. But it seems as though Conte is the man Spurs want.
