Jamie O’Hara claims Liverpool man Thiago is ideal for Man City

Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara would be ‘perfect for Manchester City’, according to former Spurs midfielder and Talksport pundit, Jamie O’Hara.

Speaking on Talksport today, O’Hara became the latest pundit to claim Thiago ‘slows things down’ for the Reds.

Thiago has overcome his injury to become a regular fixture in recent weeks for Liverpool. With the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho filling in at centre-back, Thiago’s return was seen as crucial.

However, O’Hara, like some other pundits have claimed, believes Thiago is slowing things down for the Reds and would be better off at The Etihad with Pep Guardiola.

“As much as I love Thiago and he’s fantastic to watch, he just slows it down for them too much,” O’Hara said.

“I think he’d be perfect for Man City’s side. But I think for Liverpool, he wants to get on the ball and he wants to have 150 touches a game. Thiago slows it down too much for me.”

TBR View: Can’t agree here, Thiago is world-class, Henderson is the big miss

Football is a game based on opinions but on this occasion, singling out Thiago is just wrong. He seems to have been made a scapegoat for a couple of poor Liverpool results.

The reality is, he’s been a class act. Sure, he might want to get on the ball a bit more but he doesn’t give it away and some of his balls through the lines to the forwards have been exceptional.

Jordan Henderson is the big miss in midfield. He brings the energy that O’Hara mentions in his comments. That energy, coupled with Thiago’s brilliance, will be a winning formula for Liverpool.

The Spaniard is world-class. To be writing him off and blaming him already, is bordering on ludicrious.
