Thomas Tuchel is gearing up to lead England in the World Cup next summer, but Jamie O’Hara is already considering who might replace him.

The Three Lions will be back in action next week with a friendly against Wales, followed by a World Cup qualifier against Latvia, as Tuchel aims to continue his impressive start in charge.

However, the former Bayern Munich manager is only on a short-term contract until next year after the World Cup, which could lead to the FA quickly needing another manager.

O’Hara believes he has already identified who could take on that responsibility in the form of an ex-Chelsea legend.

Jamie O’Hara believes Frank Lampard should be the next England manager

O’Hara has backed Frank Lampard as the man who could lead the Three Lions after Tuchel’s time in charge ends.

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has been impressed with Lampard’s work at Coventry and explained on Sky Sports News why he’s backing him for England.

“Since he’s gone in at Coventry, [they’re] playing some fantastic football. I think they’ve scored 22 goals already as well, they are flying in the EFL.

“I like everything about what he’s doing. I’ve always liked him as a manager. Tactically, he sets his teams up to do attacking football.

“I think Frank Lampard for me, is definitely one that we’d look at in the future to take over as England manager after Thomas Tuchel, and why not?

“He’s an England great, and he’s showing managerially that he can do it at the highest level.”

Lampard replacing Tuchel at England would be an interesting moment, given that the roles were reversed at Chelsea when the German coach took over at Stamford Bridge following Lampard’s first spell in charge of the Blues.

What is Frank Lampard’s managerial record?

Lampard is currently enjoying a strong start to the season at Coventry, in what is his first full campaign in charge of the Sky Blues.

Coventry sit second in the Championship after making an unbeaten start to their opening eight games, with the team being the top goalscorers in the division.

Since taking over the club last year, he has won 48.84 percent of the games he has managed, winning 21 of the 43.

Lampard also enjoyed success during his first spell in charge of Chelsea, guiding them to the top four despite the club’s transfer ban, which forced him to focus on promoting academy stars such as Reece James and Mason Mount.
