'He wanted that ball': Jamie Carragher spotted who Gabriel Jesus was fuming with in the 18th minute against Palace

New Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus was left fuming with Granit Xhaka in the first half against Crystal Palace this evening.

The Gunners have delivered an impressive performance with Jesus very much at the heart of some of their best attacking play of the opening 45. Gabriel Martinelli’s goal from a well-worked set-piece put Arsenal in front and in the main, they’ve dominated.

However, like with any Arsenal performance of recent years there is always room for improvement. And some of that improvement could come in the form of how the midfield actually looks to use new man Jesus. Indeed, it was something Sky’s Jamie Carragher picked up on in the 18th minute, as Jesus was left fuming with Granit Xhaka for not playing him through in the final third.

“Jesus is remonstrating with Xhaka, he wanted that ball earlier. He was in down the side,” Carragher commented.

“You see that space there, you’ve just got to play that ball. That’s what Jesus is going to bring to this team this season, something they didn’t have with Lacazette last year.”

Xhaka, in fairness to him, had a decent enough half. However, he can expect more of this from Jesus, if the service doesn’t arrive for the former Manchester City ace.

TBR’s View: Jesus Making Big Arsenal Impact

Apart from not scoring, Gabriel Jesus has had a fine opening 45 minutes of the season. As Carragher says, he looks like he’s already bringing something different to the table for Arsenal.

If Jesus can carry on this level into the second half, then Arsenal could well run out big winners by the time the full-time whistle is blown.
