Arsenal must wait until Friday to find out who they play in the Champions League quarter-finals after knocking Porto out of the competition – and Jamie Carragher backed them to beat Barcelona.
Arsenal overturned a 1-0 first-leg deficit, winning the second leg 1-0. The game went into extra-time, but the Gunners held firm to win on penalties – with star David Raya saving twice during the shootout.
The Spaniard has come in for plenty of praise, with Jamie O’Hara putting Tottenham allegiance aside to praise the Arsenal man – saying he has improved a lot. Tony Cascarino thinks they can reach the semis.
O’Hara thinks Harry Kane’s Bayern would knock Arsenal out of the competition at the last-eight stage. But, the Gunners are in excellent form, better form than a lot of the clubs that remain in the competition.
Speaking on CBS Sports last night, Carragher believes Barcelona could be deemed a weak link given they are far form their best – despite beating Napoli. He thinks Arsenal would be pleased to get them.

“Barcelona, where they are right now, I think that would be a decent draw for a Manchester City, Arsenal or a PSG – I think they would be quite pleased,” Carragher claimed last night, while on CBS Sports.

It would be quite the affair, given Mikel Arteta continues to be linked with the Barcelona job as Xavi struggles to get a tune out of his Barcelona players. They currently sit in third place in the La Liga table.
Eight points adrift of Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid, with Girona in second place. But, Barcelona have started to fight back of late, going unbeaten in nine and winning six – including their defeat of Napoli.
Any side in the last eight will be a difficult test for Arsenal, but you would say that the likes of Barca, Dortmund or Atletico Madrid may present an opportunity for the Gunners to go to the semi-finals.
