Jamie Carragher says reported Arsenal target Ruben Neves “could play for any of the top teams” in the Premier League.

The Sky Sports pundit was praising the Wolves midfielder in wake of his knock early on against Leeds on Friday night.

In February, The Sun claimed Arsenal have identified Neves as one of three key summer targets.

The outlet also claims the Portugal international has a price tag of around £45million.

The Gunners apparently also want strikers Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Alexander Isak.

Mohamed Elneny is expected to leave Arsenal at the end of the season as his contract expires.

Meanwhile, the Gunners could potentially also sell Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

In addition, Roma are reportedly planning to make another move for Granit Xhaka.

Therefore, there’s certainly scope for Arsenal to bring in a high-calibre midfielder this summer.

And Neves would definitely fit the bill – he’s world-class, has Premier League experience, and is just 25 years old.

However, he sustained a knee injury against Leeds, and though he tried to run it off, he couldn’t continue.

“I think Neves could play for any of the top teams in our league,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.

“You don’t want to lose a player of that quality from the game so early.”

Asked about Neves’ injury in his post-match press conference, Lage told the Birmingham Mail: “We need to see what happened.

“In a couple of days we’ll know what happened. He didn’t feel comfortable.

“He fell down on his knee and didn’t feel comfortable, now we need to wait and see what happened.”
