Jamie Carragher has given on a glowing verdict on the ability of Manchester City’s Phil Foden, who he’s described as “different” to other players in the Premier League.
Carragher has explained that the 20-year-old has an edge to his game unlike most in the Premier League, citing the way he dribbles past opponents with the ball and the flair to his game.
The left-footed attacking midfielder has been an instrumental figure this season for Man City, who were officially crowned Premier League champions for the 2020/21 season on Tuesday night after Manchester United’s defeat to Leicester City.
Pep Guardiola’s side can’t be caught now at the top of the league, and the title has been on the cards for a while now.
Foden, who is an amazing talent out of the Man City academy, is now in a position where he’s grown into a key first teamer after years around the senior squad.
He’s scored 14 goals and made 10 assists across all competitions so far this campaign.
“His actual performances you’re thinking ‘wow’, the way he plays… He’s not just a great player, we’ve got lots of great players, he’s different isn’t he,” Carragher told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports (10:45pm, 10 May).
‘He’s different not just what we have in terms of English players, I think in terms of in the league. Actually somebody running with the ball going past players. I think his performances in the last three or four have months he had to be in [my Premier League Team of the Season].”

TBR’s View:
Aged 20, Foden now has three Premier League titles under his belt already.
Guardiola is proving to be the perfect mentor for the youngster, who’s spent most of the season further up in the pitch in more offensive positions to help his goal output.
There aren’t many more eye-catching players in the Premier League right now, which is why England supporters across the country are excited to see what a talented young group of players can do at this summer’s European Championships.
