Jamie Carragher says Liverpool star is world's best in his position after his masterclass at Arsenal
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has described Reds ace Trent Alexander-Arnold as the best right-back in the world.
The 23-year-old put in a masterclass to help Jurgen Klopp’s charges reach the Carabao Cup final.
Liverpool played out a 0-0 draw with Arsenal at Anfield last week, but ran out 2-0 winners at the Emirates.
Alexander-Arnold provided both assists for Diogo Jota to grab a brace against Mikel Arteta’s charges.
In the 19th minute, the 23-year-old set Jota on his way with a neat ball down the left channel.
The Portuguese had a lot of work to do still, but he duly did so, getting the better of Takehiro Tomiyasu and scuffing an effort past Aaron Ramsdale.
In the 77th minute, Alexander-Arnold then completely split the Arsenal defence open with a diagonal ball to Jota.
The former Wolves man beat Ben White and dinked a superb finish over Ramsdale and into the net.
Assists aside, Alexander-Arnold clocked up some impressive stats against Arsenal, as per Squawka.
He won 100 percent of his ground duels, took 74 touches of the ball, delivered four crosses, created three chances, provided two assists, and weighed in with three tackles, two clearances and an interception.
Carragher loved what he saw from Liverpool, and was especially vocal in praising Alexander-Arnold:
Liverpool, in their first League Cup final for six years, will face Chelsea in the final at Wembley.
