Jamie Carragher has told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports (broadcast on 26/4; 22:12) that he is a big fan of Jesse Marsch and believes that the Leeds United boss is a great addition to the Premier League.
Leeds have extended their unbeaten run to five games by earning a point away at Crystal Palace on Monday. The Whites were far from their best. And there is absolutely no question that Illan Meslier was the busier of the two goalkeepers.

But some Leeds fans may feel that they have would have taken a point before the game. Every positive result could matter at this stage as they look to battle to avoid being relegated.
And Marsch has certainly made Leeds harder to break down. They did give away chances. But Leeds were nowhere near as open as they have been at times this season.

There is still a question mark hanging over whether Marsch will be a success at Leeds in the long-term. But Carragher insisted that he really likes what he is seeing from the American so far.
“I really like him and he’s new to the league. Leeds supporters, they’re the only ones that matter. They loved the last manager. I think he’s made a brilliant start, I’m sure they’ll obviously take him to their hearts as well. Obviously, results have been really good. But just from talking to him, the answers he gives you, the detail he gives you. It’s lovely for us to get a little bit more information and understanding,” he told Monday Night Football.
“It’s his energy when he speaks, you can feel it. There’s been a lot of ridicule at different times over the years when we’ve had American coaches and managers within the league, but I’ve been really impressed. I think he’s going to be a great addition to the Premier League.”
Jesse Marsch needs time to prove what he will bring to Leeds
It is hard to make any conclusions about Marsch so far. Leeds have picked up some big results. And without the change of head coach, it was hard to see the Whites getting themselves out of trouble.
Marsch should probably not be judged too harshly in these games when the clear priority is results. But clearly, performances like Monday may not sit too well with supporters next season – should Leeds stay up.
