Jamie Carragher says Arsenal star 'bullied' Tottenham 28-year-old on Sunday in NLD
Jamie Carragher has told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports that Arsenal ace Ben White bullied Tottenham striker Harry Kane on Sunday in the NLD.
White, 23, was placed under enormous scrutiny following his £50million move from Brighton. His dodgy display against Brentford intensified that.
Ivan Toney had a field day, winning numerous headers as the Bees beat Arsenal 2-0 in White’s debut. But on Sunday, White was superb for Arsenal.
White has formed a partnership with the returning Gabriel at centre-back. Coming into the NLD, they kept clean sheets against Burnley and Norwich.
The ex-Brighton man was sensational, keeping Kane quiet – albeit lucky not to concede a penalty. Carragher praised White, claiming he “bullied” Kane.
During analysis, Carragher said: “The ball goes long – Ben White wins the challenge, again, against Harry Kane we should say.
“Harry Kane was not at the races. Really not acceptable, his performance. He got ‘bullied’ by Ben White,” Carragher continued on MNF.
Carragher on White, Kane: Arsenal star deserves praise, after win v Tottenham
White was superb against Tottenham in what was only his fourth appearance for the Gunners. It was a tumultuous start in Arsenal colours.
But having been humbled by Toney and then heavily criticised on that Friday by Gary Neville and Carragher – White has immediately improved.
On Sunday, he looked tougher, closer to his man and a nastier. He won headers, he won tackles, and took advantage of a lacklustre Kane.
Perhaps, working with Kane at Euro 2020 might have helped. But either way, that is why Arsenal have paid £50million for White.
