Tottenham Hotspur trio Harry Winks, Giovani Lo Celso and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have been criticised by Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher in wake of their displays in the League Cup final.
Spurs put in a meek performance in Sunday’s Wembley showpiece and were lucky to only be beaten 1-0 by Manchester City.
Ryan Mason’s charges were second best throughout the game and were undone by a late Aymeric Laporte header which gave the opposition their fourth consecutive League Cup triumph.

Meanwhile, Tottenham’s 13-year wait for a trophy continues, and Carragher was not impressed by the midfield players, accusing them of lacking courage.
“The manager picked a midfield – Harry Winks, Giovani Lo Celso, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – to try and play through the middle but there was no courage, they didn’t want the ball and took the easy option time and again,” he told Sky Sports.
“Tottenham were criticised for playing too much at the back, but every time they went forward and went direct they lost the challenge. What could the manager do?
“That first-half performance? I’ve never felt a team was so lucky in my life to get in at nil-nil at half-time.”
TBR View:
The 1-0 final result suggests an almost even match-up, but in reality it could’ve been so much more for City, who dominated Spurs in every department.
Maybe Tottenham were overawed by the occasion, particularly considering their manager was only taking charge of his second game, although it’s not his fault – the players let him down.
