Jamie Carragher was left praising the Aston Villa team after their latest performance in the Premier League.
Dean Smith’s side came from behind at Stamford Bridge on Monday night, as they produced a gritty display to draw 1-1 away to Chelsea.
Anwar El Ghazi cancelled out Olivier Giroud’s opener to give Villa a deserved point, which lifted them up to fifth in the Premier League table and continued an excellent campaign for them so far.
The Midlands giants now have 26 points from just 14 league games so far and are right in the mix for the European positions based off the opening few months of the season.
Pundit Carragher hailed Villa on Twitter post-match and pointed out the “big turnaround” from them this season.
They avoided relegation from the Premier League on the final day of last season away to West Ham and look a completely different side this term.
TBR’s View:
It was vital that Villa maintained their top-flight status last season and they’ve now managed to kick on as a result.
Villa boss Smith was given the licence to recruit in the summer window, something they did exceptionally well with eye-catching signings such as Matty Cash, Emiliano Martinez and Ollie Watkins.
They now look like a team with a brilliant spine running down the middle, coupled with the fact they’ve got one of the division’s best creators and flair players in captain Jack Grealish.
Everyone will know a lot more about this Villa side after their next three league games against Manchester United, Tottenham and Everton, but they have no reason to go into them with any fear.
