Jamie Carrahger praised Liverpool after their demolition of Leicester City at the King Power Stadium and also singled out homegrown talent Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Jurgen Klopp’s side extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 13 points, as they dismantled second-placed Leicester on their own pitch.
Roberto Firmino opened the scoring in the first-half with his header, but the Reds should have scored plenty more with their dominance.
The Merseyside giants then netted three times inside seven second-half minutes to wrap up three points.
Firmino added another to his personal tally, while James Milner and Alexander-Arnold were also on the scoresheet.
It was right-back Alexander-Arnold that stole the headlines with his man of the match performance.
The 21-year-old is an academy product from the Liverpool suburb of West Derby and he’s been developed into a world-class talent by Klopp.
He assisted two goals as well as winning the penalty for another and also fired in a low finish to score himself.
“That performance from Liverpool sums up their season, they always raise their game in the big games and do enough in the others. Best team in the world at the moment & their playmaker is from West Derby!” Carragher wrote on his personal Twitter account.
“Watching Kevin De Bruyne is like having Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield,” Carrahger also wrote on his personal Twitter account.
Alexander-Arnold is up to 10 assists across all competitions so far this season and he flexed his creative muscles on Boxing Day to star against Leicester.
His comparison to Manchester City’s De Bruyne doesn’t seem too far-fetched considering their crossing ability from wide areas and there is a suggestion that the Liverpool ace could end up in midfield later in his career.
Meanwhile, Klopp’s side are storming towards the league title and it doesn’t seem like anybody can step them.
