Liverpool were beaten once again on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League, as they collapsed in seven second-half minutes to lose 3-1 away to Leicester City.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have now lost three league games in a row after defeat at the King Power Stadium.
Mohamed Salah’s superb left-footed finish midway through the second period put visitors Liverpool ahead, which was what they deserved from a bright display.
But the floodgates opened defensively late in the contest.
James Maddison’s free-kick in the 78th minute drew the Foxes level, before a huge mix up between goalkeeper Alison Becker and debutant Ozan Kabak allowed Jamie Vardy to tap into an empty net.
Harvey Barnes added a third for Leicester after Liverpool lost possession on the halfway line, which was the final blow for the Merseyside giants.
Ex-Reds defender Carragher was left extremely frustrated on Twitter after his former club were beaten and was critical of goalkeeper Alisson, as well as stating midfielder Thiago Alcantara is a “liability defensively” for the team.
TBR’s View:
Liverpool’s title bid is over. With Klopp’s team in such poor form, there will be worries now about whether they can finish in the top four this season.
The pressure is certainly going to be cranked up on the Reds even more now and they will need to show a lot of character, as they look a shadow of the team from the past two years.
Alisson is under real scrutiny for some uncharacteristic mistakes in the past couple of games, plus Carragher mentioned Thiago as a weak link.
The 29-year-old appears to have found it difficult adjusting to the Premier League since his arrival from Bayern Munich and struggled against Wilfred Ndidi on Saturday, but it’s worth noting he’s add injury problems.
