Jamie Carragher has told Sky Sports’ The Football Show (Friday, 09:15am) that Mauricio Pochettino is going to turn his phone off, amid reports that Daniel Levy has approached the ex-Tottenham manager over reducing his pay-off.
Pochettino remains on gardening leave from Tottenham after being sacked and replaced by Jose Mourinho and The Mail claim he will continue to be paid his enormous £160,000-a-week wages until he finds a new club.
However, the latest report now states that Levy has made contact with Pochettino and is trying to get the former Southampton and Espanyol manager to agree to either a pay cut or a wage deferral, during the ongoing global health crisis.
Asked about the reports over Levy contacting Pochettino, Carragher responded by claiming that if Spurs are struggling to get their players to take a deferral – then getting Pochettino to do so will be even harder, and reckons he might ignore Levy.
Should Levy make contact with Pochettino, given his phone is not turned off, surely the former Spurs manager will at least agree to a deferral – if not a cut given the current crisis.
