Jamie Carragher was left praising West Ham’s Vladimir Coufal after his performance on Monday night against Burnley.
West Ham came from behind to beat Burnley 2-1 at Turf Moor in the Premier League, which saw them climb to fifth in the table.
Michail Antonio scored twice in the first half on his return to the XI to cancel out Chris Wood’s opener, and it keeps the Hammers firmly in the hunt for the Champions League positions.
David Moyes’ side have some favourable fixtures in their remaining four league games, and right now find themselves three points below fourth-placed Chelsea.
Sky Sports pundit Carrahger picked out Hammers right-back Coufal after his individual display.
The 28-year-old defender was his usual aggressive self at the back. Additionally, he provided a superb assist for Antonio’s headed goal to equalise at the time.
“I think he’s been one of the signings of the season,” Carragher told Sky Sports’ Main Event channel (10:24pm, 4 May).
“We talk about [Tomas] Soucek, but Coufal whether it’s right wing-back or right full-back at different times, he’s just one of those players that’s 7/10 minimum every time you watch him play.
“He’s the type of player you’d love to play with him. A manager’s dream, never injured, he’s there week in week out.”
Coufal, who Carragher has described as one of the signings of the season, has made a phenomenal impact at the London Stadium since joining in last summer’s transfer window.
The Czech full-back has turned out to be a perfect fit for Premier League football with his style of play, and is a level above teammate Ryan Fredericks.
He’s now managed six league assists this season to show his attacking influence when he drive software, with three coming in the last five matches.
