Tottenham and Manchester City played out an entertaining game of Premier League football this evening as there was drama at The Etihad in the wind and rain.

Spurs came into the game with a clear intent to take the game to City from the off. Antonio Conte’s men got off to the dream start as new signing Dejan Kulusevski tucked in from Heung-Min Son’s pass. Ilkay Gundogan levelled proceedings, but the brilliant Harry Kane equalised for Tottenham.

There was, however, a late drama, as Cristian Romero was adjudged to have handled, allowing Riyad Mahrez to fire in a late penalty to bring the scores level. However, it wasn’t done there, as Harry Kane scored a dramatic winner.

But despite Romero’s moment at the end, Sky Sports commentator Jamie Carragher felt the Argentinian defender was superb on the night. And the former Liverpool man believes Spurs have got themselves a real player.

“There was a challenge just before that (a foul on Emerson Royal), from Romero. He really impresses me, this fella. I think Spurs have got themselves a really top defender,” Carragher said of Romero in the 79th minute.

Romero has recently returned from injury and is seen as being the main man in the Spurs backline already. Carragher had proclaimed Romero the best player on the pitch before Harry Kane took his MOTM award with his late, late winner.

TBR’s View: Romero Proving His Worth Already

He cost big money, but Cristian Romero already looks the part for Tottenham. He was excellent tonight at City and deserved to be on the winning side.

Spurs might have had to shell out the big bucks, but sometimes, it just proves what doing so can get you. Romero, as Carragher says, looks the real deal.
