Jamie Carragher has slammed three Arsenal signings in his weekly column for The Telegraph, claiming they are deals that benefit that players rather than the football club.
The Sky Sports pundit suggested that the signings of Cedric Soares, Willian and David Luiz have been poor in contrast to the arrivals of Gabriel and Thomas Partey.
Arsenal won all six of their Europa League games but are languishing in 15th place in the Premier League with just one win in their last six games.

Carragher has been discussing the Gunners in his weekly piece and had some interesting comments for the club’s recruitment.
He told The Telegraph: “Centre-back Gabriel and Thomas Partey reflect Arteta’s vision. They look sensible, exciting long-term acquisitions.
“Then I see purchases such as Cedric Soares last January and Willian in the summer and the contrast is striking.
“Willian was tremendous at Chelsea but handing a lavish contract to a 32-year-old sends a contradictory message when a club is building for the future.
“As an outsider and in my opinion, the deals for Willian, Cedric and David Luiz have benefitted Kia Joorabchin’s clients far more than Arsenal Football Club.”
TBR View – Summer recruitment wasn’t bad but Arsenal need more
Carragher does make a valid point.
If Partey and Gabriel were part of the recruitment strategy, why on earth was Willian added on a three-year deal?
It does seem a strange one and only the people at Arsenal will understand the thought process.

The Gunners haven’t tasted Champions League football for years now and in order to get back, they must continue to build.
Arsenal have plenty of exciting youngsters and perhaps that is the way to continue going in the future.
Willian is proving a flop, whilst Cedric’s game time has come at a premium for the Gunners.
Both look bizarre recruits and Carragher is right to question their arrivals at the Emirates Stadium.
