Liverpool have been linked with Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu this week, who earned high praise from pundit and ex-Reds defender Jamie Carragher last season.
The Mirror reported on Monday that the 24-year-old is on a five-man shortlist of centre-backs that Liverpool have drawn up ahead of this summer.
It is explained that the Turkey international, who is a key figure at the back for Premier League rivals Leicester, is impressing Reds transfer chief Michael Edwards.
Additionally, on-loan Liverpool defender Ozan Kabak, RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate, Brighton’s Ben White, and Marseille’s Duje Caleta-Car are the other centre-halves being considered.
Carragher gave Soyuncu an honorary mention last year when selecting a Premier League Team of the Season:
“I’m a big fan of Caglar Soyuncu in that he just makes me smile when I see him play for Leicester,” Carragher told Sky Sports last season (April 2020).

TBR’s View:
If you look across the Premier League for the most talented crop of centre-backs, Leicester must sit near of the top given all their options.
Soyuncu, 24, is an outstanding centre-half that may not be anywhere near his peak, but he already looks dominant in the English top flight.
Despite suffering injury problems this campaign, he’s been a colossus when he’s played in the last few months.
He’s a defender that is quick, strong and confident on the ball, which has made him a big favourite at the King Power Stadium since his transfer in 2018.
Liverpool need an extra defender going into next season due to their poor luck with injuries, but surely someone like Soyuncu would be a marquee addition and be joining to fit the starting XI.
