Liverpool are in the box seat in the Premier League title race right now.
The Reds are eight points ahead of Arsenal as things stand, and Liverpool could be on course to win their 20th league title.
Gary Lineker believes Liverpool are favourites, and while this is far from a formality, the Reds are in a very strong position.
Of course, winning the league will be a huge moment, but as soon as you become champions, your focus has to switch to retaining your crown.
Writing in his column for The Telegraph, Jamie Carragher has been discussing Liverpool’s title charge, and he made a prediction about what the Reds will do in the summer if they do win the league.

What Liverpool will do if they win the league
Carragher shared his verdict on Liverpool.
The pundit reckons that the Reds are still a work in progress at the moment and that, despite the fact they’re on course to become champions, they’re not the finished product.
Indeed, Carragher believes that Liverpool will spend a lot of money to improve their squad this summer even if they win the league.
“Whenever I watch Liverpool and Arsenal, it feels like they are still a work in progress. Because so many Premier League teams are in transition, an opportunity has presented itself for the club more advanced in their development to become champions despite being far from the finished article,” Carragher wrote.
“Traditionally, the team who win the title are the one who are hitting their peak at the right moment, the stars aligning as they benefit from the right blend of youth and experience. My suspicion is Liverpool and Arsenal will be much stronger teams a year from now, which means even the eventual champions will think there is much more to come.
“The title will be won by the side who can overcome their current imperfections to get over the line.
“Strange as it sounds, if Liverpool do win the league it would still be surprising if they did not significantly invest this summer.”
What do Liverpool need to do?
Carragher reckons Liverpool will be looking to bolster their squad this summer, and there are a few areas that need addressing.
Indeed, Carragher reckons Liverpool need a left-back, and that is becoming more and more clear as Andy Robertson continues to regress.
Meanwhile, Liverpool may also be in the market for a new midfielder.
Liverpool wanted Martin Zubimendi last summer, but after that deal collapsed, there’s still a gap in the Reds’ squad in that position.
On top of that, Liverpool may also need another attacker – Anthony Gordon was linked last summer, and that could be a situation to keep an eye on at the end of this season too.
After a couple of years of keeping their powder dry, Liverpool could be in for a busy summer window.
