Jamie Carragher predicts if Liverpool will win the Champions League this season

Liverpool could be on course for a truly historic season this term under Arne Slot.

Indeed, the Reds are top of the Premier League as things stand, and they’re one of the favourites to win the Champions League.

Liverpool breezed through the Champions League league phase, topping the group without losing a single game.

Liverpool could be on course to win their first treble since 2001, but according to Jamie Carragher, speaking on CBS, a treble may not be on the cards at Anfield.

Rio Ferdinand reckons Liverpool are favourites for the Champions League, but Carragher disagrees.

Carragher believes Liverpool’s main focus may well be on the league and that the Reds may end up winning the league title and the Carabao Cup.

Liverpool won’t win the Champions League

Carragher shared his verdict on if Liverpool will win their seventh European Cup this season.

According to the pundit, Liverpool will fall short in Europe as they will mainly be focused on winning the league.

“Will Liverpool win the treble this season.

“No, I think the league is the most important for Liverpool this season. When we get to March or April. If they have big Champions League games midweek. The focus, I think Liverpool will win the league and the Carabao Cup,” Carragher said.

What Arne Slot has said about winning the Premier League

Carragher says that Liverpool’s main focus will be to win the Premier League, and that does seem to be the case.

Indeed, Arne Slot himself has stated that he’d want to win the Premier League more than any other trophy at Liverpool.

“What trophy do you most want to win at Liverpool?” Slot was asked.

“I think we would love to win every trophy we can win, but if we can pick one, we would probably choose to win the Premier League,” Slot said.

Liverpool have only done the European Cup – League title double twice in their history, and Slot could still end up doing that.

However, as Carragher says, a league and cup double may be more realistic.

That said, with Mohamed Salah in Ballon d’Or winning form, you can never write off Liverpool in any competition at the moment.
