Jamie Carragher has named summer signings Gabriel Magalhaes and Thomas Partey as Arsenal’s best two players so far this season.
Despite breezing through their Europa League group, the Gunners have had a frustrating start to the 2020/21 league campaign and that was compiled by a 2-0 defeat at the weekend away to current table toppers Tottenham.
Mikel Arteta’s side are 15th in the Premier League table with just 10 goals scored in their opening 11 games and already it looks like another huge fight for them to get themselves back in the top four.
Carragher believes that new Arsenal duo Gabriel and Partey have been the standouts at the Emirates Stadium.
22-year-old Brazilian centre-back has quickly cemented his position in the Arsenal defence and looks a leader at a young age.
Meanwhile, 27-year-old Partey has only made six appearances since his move from Atletico Madrid and just four starts in the Premier League.
The Ghanian midfielder has been plagued by injury so far and was forced off in the North London derby against Spurs at the weekend, but he’s shown in glimpses
“Mikel Arteta brought in Partey and Gabriel and they look like Arsenal’s two best players at this moment, certainly early stages this season” Carragher told Sky Sports’ Main Event channel (7:40pm, 7 December).

TBR’s View:
Partey has had a stop-start beginning to his Arsenal career and already they look a much better side with him in the centre of the park, as he brings defensive steel and a bit more creativity in possession.
But Arteta’s team can’t just be reliant on the midfield powerhouse to turn their fortunes around him and it’s obvious that it’s an area of the pitch that needs addressing in the January transfer window if possible.
Gabriel has been a real shining light in a poor season for Arsenal and the left-footed defender looks an incredible bargain at £23million (BBC).
