Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has raved about West Ham United defender Vladimir Coufal during Monday Night Football. The ex-defender named the Hammers star in his Premier League Team of the Season.

The 28-year-old has played 33 games for West Ham since arriving from Slavia Prague. He has been instrumental for the team during 2020/21, helping the club into Champions League contention.

Remarkably the right-back only cost £5 million and David Moyes must be delighted with how he’s taken to life in East London.

As Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville teamed up for one last Monday Night Football this season, they set about naming their team’s of the year – and the former Liverpool man raved about the Hammers man.

He said on Sky Sports: “I love Coufal. I love him. He plays week in and week out and I know he’s now always eye-catching going forward but I think he’s been brilliant and sums up West Ham’s season.”

Moyes hit the jackpot with his two new additions from the Czech outfit. Both Coufal and Tomas Soucek have been standout performers during the current campaign.

During the summer West Ham fans were hoping to see some stellar additions added to the squad. Moyes, however, was forced to cut his cloth accordingly and that led him to the Czech Republic.

Coufal has been nothing short of brilliant and given his paltry sum, has to be considered one of West Ham’s best pieces of transfer business for quite some time.

The 13-cap international earns £30,000-a-week at the London Stadium and has a contract until 2023. On current form, supporters will hope that an extension can be agreed on with Coufal.

Moyes deserves immense credit for the current campaign and signings like the Czech star have helped the team enjoy a stunning season.
