Jamie Carragher was part of the Sky Sports coverage as Liverpool beat Manchester United 4-2 at Old Trafford to give themselves hope of a top-four finish.
The former centre-back was alongside Gary Neville on commentary and the joy was evident as the full-time whistle blew. The result moves Liverpool up to fifth in the Premier League.
It was a tremendous night for the Reds. When Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring it had looked like being a long night for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
A brace from Roberto Firmino and goals from Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah ensured Liverpool got themselves over the line, however. Marcus Rashford scored United’s second.
Carragher took to Twitter after the game to rave about Trent Alexander-Arnold. He was adamant he was the team’s best player, although his Tweet also had praise for Firmino.
Whilst Firmino’s goals were clearly important, it’s perhaps better news that Alexander-Arnold is back in form. Some of the criticism earlier this season was unjustified and Liverpool fans will be buzzing.
The right-back is only 22 and some of the talk surrounding his previous blip was nothing short of nonsense. He lost his England place earlier in the season, with Gareth Southgate not even naming him in the squad.

Of late, he’s been making a mockery of such a decision and if he can continue playing as he did last night, a place at Euro 2020 is a given.
He has 12 caps for his country, scoring one goal. At Liverpool, he’s managed 10 goals and 43 assists during 176 outings for his hometown club.
Klopp will be delighted to see Alexander-Arnold back in form and the England star will be delighted to be proving his critics from earlier in the season badly wrong.
