Jamie Carragher lauds Liverpool star Sadio Mane, says he could be in best ever Reds XI

Liverpool won 2-0 at Chelsea yesterday and former Reds defender, Jamie Carragher, has been piling the praise on Sadio Mane.

The flying winger scored both goals as the Reds eased past Frank Lampard’s Blues, with a red card for Andreas Christensen just before half-time tilting the game firmly in Liverpool’s favour.

Mane headed in a neat opener before robbing Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa to tuck in his second and put the game to bed. And Carragher, who was speaking on Sky Sports, suggested Mane could be on of Liverpool’s all-time greats.

“He’s an absolute superstar. He’s one of the top left-sided players in world football, certainly. I love him and I always go back to him as being Jurgen Klopp’s first major signing.

“I loved John Barnes, and he’s always in Liverpool’s best XI. I think when Mane finishes, that is a serious discussion and I can’t believe I’m saying it. But what that man has done, he’s going to be pushing Barnes for the all-time Liverpool XI for me”.

Mane has been exceptional since arriving from Southampton and was the joint-winner of the Golden Boot in the Premier League during the 18/19 season.

And he’s right as well. The Liverpool man has been nothing short of superb ever since he walked in the door at Anfield. His pace, goals, assists, and overall contribution to the team are massive.

Along with Salah and, arguably, Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool notice Mane massively if he’s missing. He will, rightly, be lauded by Reds fans once he eventually does leave the club.
