Jamie Carragher was full of praise for Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier as the Whites produced a memorable win at Liverpool tonight.
Jesse Marsch got the result he wanted in the end. Leeds pushed on in the second half and a dramatic winger from Crysencio Summerville shocked Anfield. All in all, though, Leeds deserved it.
Of course, for Leeds to win it required a number of good performances. And while Summerville will get the headlines, it was the performance of Meslier in goal that was eye-catching as well.

Meslier produced a number of fine saves and commentating on Sky Sports, Jamie Carragher picked out the Leeds ace for special praise.
“Meslier has been fantastic! It’s a save you expect him to make but the reaction to get up when he fumbles it is really good,” Carragher said on Meslier.
“The two big saves from Nunez really stand out.”
Meslier has built a solid reputation in recent seasons at Leeds. He is seen as one of the top young goalkeepers in the Premier League, and this performance only enhanced that rep.
TBR’s View: Meslier superb as Leeds deservedly beat Liverpool
What else can you say? Leeds fully warranted this three points tonight and Illan Meslier was vitally important again.
Leeds showed up when it matter. As did Meslier. The young stopper is getting better and better. And big performances at Anfield are rare for goalkeepers of his age.
Usually, it’s Alisson in the Liverpool goal who gets the plaudits. But tonight, it was all about Meslier and Leeds, who produced a result to let Jesse Marsch fight another day.
