Jamie Carragher has joked that he and Gary Neville should be relieved of their duties on Sky Sports for predicting that Manchester United will finish third this season.
The Sky pundits looked back on the predictions they made all the way back in August, and there were a few good calls. However, Carragher is not too proud about his prediction about Manchester United.

Jamie Carragher jokes he and Gary Neville should be sacked for their Manchester United prediction
Manchester United finished third in the Premier League table last season and even won the League Cup.
A lot was expected of the Red Devils at the start of the campaign, especially following the big-money arrivals of Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund.
Jamie Carragher had initially gone for Liverpool to finish third and Manchester United fourth, but on the day he and Gary Neville revealed their predictions on Sky Sports, he switched the two teams around.
Neville, who also picked United to finish third, was quick to point that out. He said: “No, hang on a second, last week on something else we did, you put Liverpool above Manchester United. You’ve switched your teams around.”
Carragher replied: “Liverpool have got to sign a holding midfielder. I think Man United have got to sign one as well.”
Neville then said: “You can’t change your predictions in a week, I mean, seriously.”
Last night, while looking back at their prediction about Manchester United finishing third in the Premier League this season, Carragher joked he and Neville deserved the sack for that.
“We should be relieved of our duties for that,” said the Liverpool legend said on Sky Sports.
Carragher got one thing right about Manchester United
Jamie Carragher’s prediction about Manchester United finishing third looks a bit silly now – the Red Devils are closer to 14th place than to fourth, and their form has been shocking, to say the least.
One thing the Liverpool icon said about Manchester United, however, has proved to be accurate – they need a holding midfielder.
Yes, Erik ten Hag brought in Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina, but the Moroccan has looked really poor and nothing like the player he was at the World Cup in Qatar.
All hope is not lost yet for Manchester United. Almost half of the season is still left to be played, and an addition or two in January, along with perhaps a change in manager, could put them right back into the mix to finish inside the top four.
