Jamie Carragher hopes Liverpool go on to sign Jude Bellingham
Bellingham looks destined for a key role in Gareth Southgate’s squad at the tournament. He has started to establish himself as a key player for the Three Lions.
For many, it has been a long-time coming. Bellingham has long been considered one of the best talents in world football. And he is a midfielder capable of playing in all kinds of roles.
Carragher hopes Liverpool sign Bellingham
Certainly, he appears to be the perfect partner for Declan Rice in the middle of the park. And you would imagine that a host of sides will be watching his performances at the tournament.
Liverpool will certainly be one looking on. Reports from the Daily Mail have claimed that the Reds are very interested in signing Bellingham in the future. And given Jurgen Klopp’s side’s struggles in midfield, you would imagine that someone in Bellingham’s position will be an absolute priority next summer.
Carragher was asked where Bellingham will go when he leaves Borussia Dortmund. And unsurprisingly, he suggested that he wants the teenager to end up at Anfield.
“Liverpool hopefully. I know he’s a Liverpool fan,” he told The Eleven.
“I think he’s a player who Real Madrid will want, Barcelona will want, every top club in England will want. Him and Rice is England’s midfield for the next five or six years. I don’t think anyone’s looking at them and thinking they’re going to take those positions to be honest. And they’ll probably both be fighting over who’s the future captain after Harry Kane.
“Jude Bellingham reminds me of Steven Gerrard at that age where you think he could score a goal at anytime, create something at any time. He could light up that tournament.”
Midfielder needs to look past Reds’ struggles this season
Liverpool’s struggles this season may not help their cause when it comes to signing Bellingham. However, Bellingham clearly has brilliant people around him.
Moving to Dortmund was such a smart decision. And thus, one poor season will surely not decide where the youngster goes next.
He has an opportunity to become absolutely pivotal for Liverpool for years to come. And the Reds will indeed be back challenging for major honours once again very soon.
Signing Bellingham would definitely be a massive statement of intent from Liverpool – if he is prepared to make the move.
