Jamie Carragher has stated that Liverpool will see the best of new signings Naby Keita and Fabinho eventually at Anfield, something which highlights the strength of depth in the squad.
Both midfielders arrived at the Merseyside club ahead of this season and neither are yet to reach the dizzy heights they showed at their former clubs, but there is strong competition in the centre of the park.
Keita agreed a £57million (Telegraph) move to Liverpool back in 2017 from RB Leipzig and finally made his switch to the Premier League in the summer after remaining in Germany last season.
Meanwhile, defensive midfielder Fabinho joined from Monaco for £43million (Sky Sports) in the summer and is a highly-rated Brazilian.
Liverpool legend Carragher expects the pair to come to the fore and play a vital role over the course of a long season.
“They’ll have to rotate because so much work comes from that central midfield. We still haven’t seen the new signings really, almost £100m worth of talent. We haven’t seen the best of them, but that will come,” Carragher told Soccer AM.
Liverpool do have two quality midfielders waiting in the wings for manager Jurgen Klopp, with James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum the preferred trio in the opening couple of months.
But the door is now open for the energetic Keita to slot in during the next month for the injured Milner, while Fabinho is being eased into first-team action and has a lot to offer.
The Reds have such phenomenal options in their squad now that they have to be considered the real deal and look strong enough to push Manchester City all the way for the Premier League title, while they finished as Champions League runners-up last season.
