Liverpool are now looking like strong favourites in the Premier League title race after an exceptional win over Manchester City at Anfield.
The Reds have moved three points clear of Pep Guardiola’s side with goals from Fabinho, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane proving enough despite Bernardo Silva threatening a comeback with a late strike.

The result was just rewards for a well-executed gameplan from Jurgen Klopp and his players as City struggled to break the home side down.
With that in mind, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher namechecked the three players he thought were ‘immense’ in the game on Twitter. Fabinho, Virgil van Dijk and Dejan Lovren.

Of course, there is no surprise that Van Dijk was exceptional, he is nearly every time he steps out onto the pitch.
Fabinho is going the same way. The Brazilian is continually putting in excellent performances in the midfield and is starting to make himself undroppable from Klopp’s XI.
But for Lovren, this was a big performance. The Croatian gets plenty of criticism from Liverpool fans and pundits but he put in a colossal display this evening to help keep the Premier League champions at bay.
With Joel Matip injured, Lovren has stepped up with three excellent performances in a row for Klopp’s side. Not a bad way to silence the doubters from last summer’s World Cup finalist.
