Jamie Carragher was left raving about Liverpool’s Sadio Mane on Twitter during his performance on Wednesday night in the Merseyside derby.
Jurgen Klopp’s team continued their stunning form by beating rivals Everton 5-2 at Anfield in the Premier League.
The Reds found themselves 4-2 in front at half-time after a hectic first-half and Mane was directly involved in three of the goals.
He supplied a stunning assist for the first of two Divock Origi goals, as well as sliding in teammate Xherdan Shaqiri for his converted shot.
Mane added the fourth too in the opening 45 minutes with a composed left-footed finish on the edge of the box, while Michael Keane and Richarlison were on the scoresheet for visitors Everton.
Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum scored the fifth with the only goal of the second period and capped a memorable Merseyside meeting.
Reds legend Carragher was waxing lyrical on Twitter about Mane during the contest and can’t get enough of him this season.
“Mane plays left wing in a world 11. Mane you’re a machine. Two weeks off in the summer!!! My favourite player by a mile,” Carragher wrote on his personal Twitter account.
With Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino both bench against Everton, there was even more pressure on Mane to deliver in midweek.
The 27-year-old appears to have reached a new level and it now looks like he’s the talisman in the squad.
His goal and two assists could have been more against Everton if he had converted some of his other chances, but overall he was just unplayable for Everton.
The Senegal international has now managed 13 goals and seven assists this campaign for Liverpool in 21 games across all competitions.
